The first edition of Gandhiji?s autobiography was published in two volumes. Volume I in 1927 and Volume II in 1929. The original Gujarati which priced at Re 1/- has run through five editions, nearly 50,000 copies having been sold. It was later revised and translated into English by Mahadev Desai, a close associate of Gandhiji. The English translation was serialised in Young India. This was later translated into other Indian languages.This is the popular paperback version. |
